The Pine Castle Chili Cook-off is held annually on the last Saturday in January at Fish on Fire. Our first cook-off held in 2016 was a great success and is now a fixture in Belle Isle. About 15 chili cooks donate $35 to enter the cook-off and chili aficionados donate $5 to taste all the different chilis. People “vote” for their favorites with raffle tickets placed in jars in front of each entry. The one with the most tickets gets the “People’s Choice Award.” A panel of judges each gets samples of all the chilis and gives out 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards.
Another highlight of the event is the silent auction with items donated by local businesses and individuals.
